Hello I'm Kaidence!
I frequently get told how beautiful I am, honestly I have to agree, just look at me! I came to the rescue a few years ago about to burst with kittens, I made sure my babies all got wonderful homes with lovely humans before I found my own lovely humans. Unfortunately I got very poorly and my health had to come first, but I'm very grateful for my first family.
These days I live the life of luxury in my loving sanctuary home being waited on paw and whisker, just as a lady like me deserves.
My Story
We were contacted by another rescue to see if we had space to take in a heavily pregnant cat, who was straying in Telford that they had been informed about. We had organised transfer of ownership with the other rescue to take the cat and her new born kittens in to our care, but unfortunately a foster of this rescue attempted to steal Kaidence and her new born kittens.
Ourselves and the other rescue worked tirelessly through the correct channels to put an end to a situation that could have ended badly. Together we were not going to let this individual use Kaidence and her kittens for a quick pay day - not on our watch!
Fast forward and Kaidence gets adopted to a loving and caring family, but she just did not seem to settle in the home despite how promising all initial behaviour was. She began fighting with other cats and being a general "meany" to any cats in the area.
During the weeks that followed, Kaidence really put her adopters on edge with her constant fighting and then a disappearing act where she returned as if she hadn't been away. Her adopters contacted us informing us she had gotten in to quite a serious fight and had an abscess, she was treated for this by the vet but continued to become more and more poorly.
Kaidence's health was going from bad to worse and then, the vets diagnosed her with heart failure.
During a period of testing it was discovered that Kaidence did not have heart failure, she actually had contracted FIV (Feline Immunodeficency Virus). FIV is a lifelong and incurable virus. It weakens a cats immune system leaving them vulnerable to other infections and diseases by attacking white blood cells used to fight off infections. FIV is commonly transmitted by the saliva of infected cats through bite wounds due to fighting, it is not spread through typical contact such as cats grooming each other or by sharing food bowls.
Although there is no cure for FIV, many cats can live long and healthy lives with proper management, nutrition and regular vet visits. FIV cats must be kept as indoor only pets to protect them from other infectious diseases and prevent further spread of FIV. Catios are an option for cats who enjoy the outdoors, so they can safely go outside for fresh air in a controlled environment.
Kaidence's adopters made a very hard decision, the family surrendered Kaidence to the rescue.
Her adopters made this selfless decision to ensure she gets the ongoing care and home that suits her needs.
Kaidence is now enjoying her best indoor life, with no other cats so she can't be a "meany", being completely doted on and getting all the fuss and love she desires by her forever sanctuary family.
